At Starr STEM Club, we provide engaging STEM activities that inspire creativity and critical thinking. Our program is designed to spark curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among students where they can explore, create and shine!
Dr. Starr is currently a STEM Teacher Pre-k to 12 grade at a private school in Prince William County. As the founder of the STARR STEM Club Dr. Starr offers several afterschool programs and Saturday classes. She currently teaches the following programs.

October – Engineering Basics
Engineer Like a Pro (Paper Tower Challenge): Build the tallest, strongest paper tower under design constraints.
Rocket Day (Forces & Data): Launch rockets, test forces, and analyze flight data.
November – Coding & Robotics
Unplugged to Block-Code: Learn coding logic through games, then transition to block coding.
Robots that Sense: Program robots to interact with their surroundings.
December – Forces & Motion
Roller Coaster Marble Runs: Design and test marble roller coasters to explore energy and motion.
Sleds on Different Surfaces: Experiment with friction and speed across different terrains.
January – Earth & Space
Crater Makers: Create craters with “asteroid” impacts, testing speed, size, and materials.
Constellations & Star Wheels: Build star wheels and explore constellations.
February – Chemistry & Materials
Polymers & Slime Lab: Experiment with polymers while making slime.
Ice Cream Science: Make ice cream while learning about freezing points and chemistry.
March – Life Science & Bio-Engineering
Sprout Lab: Test plant growth in different conditions.
Pollinator Helpers: Engineer pollinator-friendly models to support ecosystems.
April – Environmental Engineering
Clean Water Challenge: Build and test water filters.
School Recycling Campaign: Lead a recycling initiative for the school community.
May – Data Science & Measurement
Area & Volume Challenge: Solve design challenges through measurement.
Mini Investigations & Dashboards: Collect data and display results on simple dashboards.
June – Showcase & Celebration
Expo Build Day: Prepare final projects for exhibition.
Family STEM Expo: Celebrate with families and present student projects.
Starr STEM Club inspires students in grades 2–7 to explore, create, and shine through hands-on STEM activities. Led by Dr. Starr, our programs spark curiosity with exciting projects like rocket launches, robotics, coding, and experiments. We empower kids to build confidence, think creatively, and develop real-world problem-solving skills in a fun and supportive environment. It’s more than a club!
